When Mya put the waitress, Mya told us that the previous cook had been fired, which was surprising that it was so specific. We ordered several items from the menu; the recipes had changed significantly and not for the good. The maize bread was Brush, the French toast looked more like a glob of bread pudding (the presentation was less than desirable) and the Frittata with seasonal vegetables was cold, not even near served Lukewarm as by the intermediate cook, Kayla. Finally, the chef came with a new Frittata, which was warm and feedback was given to the chef about general dissatisfaction and presentation of the Entrées in which they continue to say, everyone else likes it and went away. After this point the service was not existent and I finally went to the waiting for the check. The waitress, Mya, who waited for us, sat on the waiting stand, told me that the cook took care of the bill and that I was not welcome to come back because I was rude to deliver feedback on the Entrées. Although I had NO plans to return due to the lack of concern, lack of professionalism and the non-chalant attitude represented by the intermediate cook, Kayla and Waitstaff (Mya), I asked the decision behind which I was unable to return to the facility. The conversation went nowhere because Mya was EXTREMELY RUDE. From frustration I said Mya, she shouldn't be in the service industry, as this is NOT the way you should treat your customers when they give feedback, I also made a disparating comment about the mouth hygiene of the cook that I noticed while true was very inappropriate (regarding that was AFTER I was said that I was 't welcome back) and I apologize for that. However, the treatment I received in this facility was UNACCEPTABLE. In fact, this is the third time that I " visited this facility. My first visit was less than pleasant and guessed who my server was MYA. After the former cook came out to correct a sitting situation, my family and I were able to enjoy the food that was wonderful. Our second visit was GREAT....Guests our server was NOT MYA the food was GREAT. Our 3rd visit on July 10 was HORRIBLE (the food and service) and MYA was our server. You don't know why it took me so long to try this place because I'm related to some brunch. I just loved the setting of this place, just the fact that it is surrounded by eclectic art in the Kemper Museum makes it worth visiting. We tried their biscuits and Gravy, Squash and Goat Cheese Omelette and French toast with raspberry and ice cream. Such a good eating experience, I could not beat enough of the crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside crushed potatoes. The French toast was unbelievable and we didn't even need the syrup because the ice and the berries sausage were all necessary. The omelette was not something special and next time I will probably try to make her grain bread and something more adventurous. They also want more dessert options than ice. In any case, this place recommends all KC foods.
Café Sebastienne was a great choice for Father?s day brunch. Not pictures we started with lamb sausages which were basic, but delicious. I had the biscuits and gravy with breakfast potatoes and the gravy was excellent. Creamy and full of flavor, and the biscuits and potatoes were great too. My girlfriend and her father had the Eggs Benedict and the the yolks were perfect with the English muffins. Her father?s husband had the pork hash and loved it as well. Pictured is the lime cake which had cotton candy on top. The cake was moist and full of flavor. Service was also excellent, and I will be keeping Cafe Sebastienne in mind for the future.
This was such a great place for brunch. The art and the courtyard come together to make this a very unique experience. I would suggest bringing friends! It?s not that busy and quite honestly is now one of my favorite brunch places. I will be back soon this time with a lot of friends!
The food here was delicious. I ordered the Kobe Beef Hash and the Crab Cakes/Eggs Benedict. They were both divine. The cafe is located inside the museum with art lining the walls. It's a wonderful place for brunch and drinks.
