At L&L Hawaiian Barbecue Katy Aloha! Found this gem while we were in Katy. Walked right in and the owner Asked if we had been here before and when we said we hadn't he brought a sample out of his kalua pork and chicken. It was melt in your mouth good! We ordered make your own combo with a choice of 4 different proteins. Kalua pork, chicken katsu, bbq short ribs and chicken is what we picked. It was on a bed of rice cabbage and a big scoop of Mac salad. We ordered extra because it was so good and we would have leftovers for later. We also couldn't for get the musibi's. We ordered our favorite spam and tried a katsu one. The owner was so nice he brought out a dessert he was wanting us to try as he was deciding if he should put it on the menu. It's a frozen berry sorbet in a orange skin and coconut sorbet in a coconut. Both cold and refreshing. Sad this place is so far away from me but the drive is definitely worth it. We have plenty of leftovers for later and all the food came in To go containers . Great service!
Food The food here isn 't bad at all, but for quality/quantity you 're receiving for the price, you 're probably not going to agree with the price. They used to give a larger portion, using the traditional white Styrofoam containers, but now the food comes in a smaller plastic container. We 've got the chicken katsu rice bowl, and it 's nothing to brag about. The chicken doesn 't have much of it 's own unique seasoning, mainly just battered and deep fried.Service I haven 't had a bad interaction at all, but even when going on a weekend, you can tell the establishment is understaffed. Usually, there 's only one cashier and one chef working, so during high traffic times, you 'll see other customers waiting for their food. I waited roughly 25 minutes for order and had around 2 people in front of me that seemed to have been waiting longer.Atmosphere The establishment itself feels dark and gloomy, and won 't really wow you in terms of design. When picking up my to go order, it seemed that their A/C was out as they had a swamp cooler and multiple fans running. In short, while you can definitely dine in and enjoy your food, it 's not a place I would go to for a hangout.
Good place to have Hawaiian food. Got the bbq platter with my husband. We are about half and took home the other half for future leftovers. We had three kinds of meat. Chicken, rib, and beef. Sadly, there's only one rib to split. Ambiance wise, lots of white noises from the fans but it's probably what's help keeping the place cool during the texas heat. Nice staff, very open to see if you need help on deciding and whatnots.
Brought us back to Oahu. The ribs, katsu chicken, bbq beef and shrimp were all excellent.
