Kohala Burger Taco - Kawaihae

Stumbled upon this place after leaving Mauna Kea beach. We had 2 of the most delicious breakfast burritos, and some fries. Super affordable, the food was fantastic and the employees were just lovely to chat with. I will definitely be heading there again before I leave the big Island of Hawaii, and I think everyone in the area should give it a try too :

The food was decent but was overpriced and the portion sizes were much smaller than expected. For a small burger, two tacos, fries, and pineapple shake, the total came to about $50! They also ask you to pay extra for a service charge on top of the subtotal to support them. The place is only open Monday-Thursday 10:30am-1:30pm. If they tried opening for more days and longer hours their prices could be lower. They have no competition in the area for the types of foods they selland they clearly know it.

Wife and I had beef tacos with rice and beans there. It was amazing. Soooo, tasteful! Sorry, no photos of food, I was hungry and the food was so good that it didn't take long on my plate. Prices are in place, (compared to the high prices resort food) and the lady (can owners) of our order is a treasure. Even a little with us. This place really brought me back to my childhood with the comics and old school candy before business. Will be on my stops when I'm back on the big island. Thanks again for the great food!!

Just eating one of our favorite places on the big island, we go every time we do? Here! They really have the best burgers and their fresh catching tacos hit the square. The staff is the best and so friendly and welcoming.
