Peeper's - Kelleys Island

Had a very very strange experience with the bartender/owner yesterday… My fiancé, his sibling, and myself were made to feel unwanted. We were the only people in the entire bar for most of our experience here. We had came for the strawberry shots (which are honestly pretty good) and had planned on staying for a little bit to talk amongst each other as this was the first bar we had stopped at. After our second drink (my first being a strawberry shot and my second drink being a water), the bartender handed my fiancé our check out of the blue. We felt like we were not welcome after this as we had not asked for the check and had told her prior we were planning on staying a bit. We had only been in the bar for about 15 minutes before she gave us the check. After we cashed out and got up to leave, the bartender stopped us and told my fiancé and I to come back when his sibling was “normal”. Not sure what that even means but it was so bizarre and off putting. For reference his sibling is neurodivergent, so sometimes he is not the best at socializing.

The bartender had an attitude and wasn’t very friendly. They also didn’t have any menus so we left since we didn’t know what they served. Seems like it could be a cool place if they provided menus and had better service.

We have been here a few times and it use to be a great place. There seems to be a major management problem lately. hours are very inconsistent. Multiple times I show up during their business hours and they are closed. Covid is over and staffing concerns shouldNot be an excuse as long as you pay market wages.

Went there for dinner waited 20 minutes no service when I ask the owner what was the problem he just asked me to leave I would not recommend this place to anyone what a joke.

We came into this bar after an early night at out at out in bay. This was one of two bars open still on the island. There were no seats at the bar so my husband and I sat at one of the high top tables. He went to kiss me and the bar “owner” or so she says, came up to us telling us to get a room and that she was going to call the police. Needless to say we decided to leave anyway and this woman followed us to the door to try to get the cops at the door to punish us and we told the officer what happened and he just laughed and said “you guys are good, have a good night”. Clearly this is a common issue with this bar “owner”.
