Pioneer Cafe - Ketchikan

The server was fantastic, and the diner had a beautiful atmosphere! I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ketchikan.

Experience a nostalgic trip to this charming diner from the 1950s and 60s. Open 24 hours and family-owned, it's a great spot to visit. We stopped by for lunch during our day in Ketchikan and enjoyed some tasty food with generous portions. The seafood chowder was particularly delicious. While the customer service could use some improvement, we're still glad we gave it a try!

This restaurant has a nostalgic vibe, reminiscent of the 1950s or 1960s. The food is delicious, and the portions are generous! The prices correspond well to the amount of food served, making it easy to share most breakfast dishes between two people. I suggest arriving before the cruise ships dock; otherwise, you might face a long wait. We visited early in the morning around 7 am and received our meals within 10 to 15 minutes.

Avoid this restaurant if you're already hungry. It took 23 minutes to receive a Reindeer hotdog that cost $16. We were advised against eating from the boat due to their tendency to take advantage of tourists, but we decided to go for it anyway. The 23-minute wait doesn't even account for the time we sat there while a waiter and waitress stood nearby giggling and chatting, completely ignoring us. There was no apology or explanation for the long wait. Just as we were about to leave, our underwhelming meal finally arrived. While the place has a nice appearance, I would recommend dining elsewhere.
