Dawn's Cafe - Kidapawan

During my visit, the buffet featured a variety of dishes including pork barbecue, chicken curry, tuna paksiw, pork sisig, pork with black beans, mussels (tahong), and pork kaldereta. The side dishes were ensaladang talong, tuna kinilaw, and sautéed bean sprouts, with fresh fruits served as dessert. Overall, the food was quite good, but my standout favorite was the pork barbecue. The meat was tender, and the sauce was flavorful—I ended up finishing 10 sticks, even eating the fat, which I typically avoid. I also enjoyed the chicken curry for its rich sauce and the tuna paksiw for its perfect balance of salty and sour flavors. While the pork sisig, pork with black beans, and pork kaldereta were decent, they could use some improvement. The pork sisig would have been much better if it had stayed crunchy; unfortunately, it was cold and a bit greasy. I found the pork with black beans to be overly salty—perhaps a touch of sugar would enhance its flavor. I'm partial to kaldereta that’s both spicy and sweet with a hint of peanut butter, but theirs was lacking in richness and spice. As in any dining establishment, food safety is essential. I hope Karahay finds a way to keep their dishes warm, as this would not only ensure safety but also enhance the dining experience. The restaurant maintains a simple yet clean environment, and the staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that flies didn’t contaminate the food.

Every time we visit Kidapawan, it's a must-visit restaurant. The food is delicious and very affordable; for just 135, you get a buffet along with free drinks. Although the selection is limited, the quality of the food is excellent!
