Freds Mexican Cafe Kihei

I returned as a customer and had a great experience. The staff was both friendly and professional. For dinner, I ordered the calamari as a starter, but it wasn’t great—thin and tough, so it was taken off the bill. However, the Hähnchentaquitos and Kalua Tacos (with red beans) were both excellent and served in a timely manner. Our waitress, Delena, was very friendly, professional, and did an outstanding job! The location is perfect for enjoying stunning sunsets, and the authentic Mexican cuisine is truly fantastic.

The food here is truly delicious! The chingaderas are a unique and intriguing appetizer—although they are on the heavier side, so I'm not sure they really fit the typical appetizer category. Nevertheless, they were fantastic! We also tried the Mexicali salad, which was delightful—full of flavor and very fresh. The only downside was the guacamole we ordered separately; it didn’t taste good at all, as it seemed store-bought and had a preserved flavor. I would have expected a Mexican café to make their own guacamole! On the plus side, the complimentary chips and salsa were excellent. Overall, it was a great dining experience with beautiful views and outstanding service. The staff were very friendly, and since we arrived for a late dinner, we didn’t have to wait at all.

Great service and ambience. Food and drinks good. Menu diverse. Price point a bit high, but still generally worth the meal and experience. Great deck and building (with two other fantastic restaurants above and below.

I had the chance to stop in fred's Mexican caffe for a light lunch after I talked to my server about my preferences, I decided for her suggestion of chingaderas and paired with a long board. the chingaderas are panko combated chicken beans rice and cheese with and amazing home sauce. my server kristina was friendly and knowledgeable. the prizes were reasonable, the portions were great, the intention was great and my experience was exceptional. I would highly recommend it to my friends and family.

Service was very friendly. The view at dinner time is outstanding. Would have loved a little more kick in the spice department, but the food was very good.
