The Gate Inn

After looking on website for times on Sunday it said open 12.00- 14.00 then 18.00 to close so we went for 6.30 for food only to be told they stop serving at this time said the website was from old owner and they cannot change it not sure if I will try again

Booked in for Sunday lunch having popped in for a quick drink on the Saturday afternoon. Liked the atmosphere of the place. It reminded me of my own village pub. Plenty of locals but ‘outsiders’ made to feel very welcome.

We visited on a Saturday night as we were staying on a campsite in our mororhome fairly local. It was approx 20 minutes walk to get there, when we arrived we were welcomed by the staff in a pleasant manner, the pub was very nice and clean.

Just got back from Sunday lunch. Loved it! Pleasant, airy conservatory. Great choice of half a dozen starters. Loved my garlic mushrooms en croute. The roast was excellent tasty and nicely cooked. Plenty of choice if you don’t want roast. Really don’t understand one or two other comments on here. Must have been under different ownership or something. Very friendly welcome, really well kept ales and excellent value. We’ll be back in the area in a couple of weeks and we’ll be back.

Stayed locally and eat there on two separate occasions. We were a party of 6 adults, were seated immediately and all chose different items from the menu or specials boards. The food arrived in a reasonable time, was well presented, hot, plentiful and tasty. Service was good and prices were reasonable. Would return if in the area again. We visited at Lunch time on both occasions so do not know how busy it gets in evenings.
