Tequila Amigos - Knoxville

We arrived for lunch and started with the salsa, which was delicious. I ordered sweet tea, and it was good. For my main dish, I chose the Quesadilla Rellena. The Mexican rice had a subtle flavor but was still pretty bland—why is it that Mexican rice often tastes like nothing? I’ve had better guacamole; it tasted a bit too bitter, likely from too much lime. The lettuce was unimpressive as well. I was surprised to find that the refried beans were stuffed inside the quesadilla rather than served on the side, which is how I'm used to them being presented. Unfortunately, the shredded chicken in the quesadilla tasted a bit watered down, so I had to add salsa to enhance the flavor. I couldn't really detect any cheese in it, so I assume it was blended into the chicken. The sour cream had an oddly gritty texture, which was off-putting. The service was quite slow; I had finished my sweet tea and had been eating for about 15 minutes before I received a refill. Will we return? I doubt it! The salsa was definitely the highlight of the meal. Overall, it was a decent experience, but this won’t be my go-to spot for Mexican food.

The service was good, especially considering the place wasn't too busy. They had my favorite Mexican beer on tap, which is hard to find in this town, even in bottles. The chips were perfectly salted, and the salsa was quite tasty. I ordered Huevos con chorizo—while the presentation was good, it wasn’t as impressive as what I had the other day on Alcoa Highway, but it was definitely more appealing. However, when I started eating the Huevos con chorizo, I found that the flavor was lacking. I could taste the eggs, but they seemed a bit underseasoned, and I could barely detect the chorizo, which was also quite minimal. On the plus side, the beans and rice were excellent.

The food was quite good this third time around! The rice and beans were flavorful, and the drinks were consistently excellent. However, the Queso Fundido was a bit too thick and oily for my taste, while the Chili Verde was spot on.

Joy is the sweetest and every attentive . makes you feel like part of the family we miss her but you guys accommodate us just fine. We eat here once a month and never miss a great time. Great place to get together with friends and family. All the staff treat us great and remember us when we come back and go out if the way to make us comfortable. We have anywhere from 6 to 20 people that show up all at random points of the day and we all seem to eat at the same time however they do it keep up the good work ! We appreciate the staff!1 Thanks! First time diners! Service was great and fast, we went for an enjoyable lunch and drinking, so we spent more but completely reasonably priced. Bug pitcher of margaritas, 3 lunches and two more single drinks we paid $75. So we were pleased. Salsa was ok, good flavor but I prefer chunky with onions and cilantro. Will be going back!!!
