Great pastry and cakes. Forget about Starbucks. Go there and get spoiled. Also a place my aunt took me four decades ago.....

The desserts are so beautiful, it's impossible to just buy one item. Bought the round, flat shaped chocolates covered with almonds and hazelnuts and caramel. Guey and delish, it was perfect! Maybe a tad bit overpriced but definitely worth a try.

The Cafe Fromme is a well known place in Cologne and offers a first class choice of cakes and pastries. The quality and taste of their products is superb. Unfortunately the prices they ask for drinks, food and service if you want to eat inside the cafe or out on their terrace are far too high and the service is quite slow and sometimes even unfriendly. So I would recommend you buy sour cake or pastry at the counter and find yourself a nice spot in the vicinity to enjoy it.

The cake is delicious, a huge selection, catering for all tastes (if you are into cake), the store (but not the café itself) is nicely decorated, people at the counter are very friendly as well.This turns into the opposite once you sit down. It takes ages until the staff reluctantly interrupts their private talks to move to your table in slow-motion. You can rely upon one thing: one out of two items you order will arrive wrongly. I always order plain milk with my tea or coffee - so far they have not a single time managed to remember that.Best thing you ask for the check immediately, as it will be a huge challenge to get anyone's attention once you are ready for paying (too busy chatting), and you will need to remind them at least once until they finally arrive. Worst service I have experienced in a long time, maybe in the GDR once upon a time.Mein Rat: Kuchen kaufen (der köstlich ist) und zuhause essen. Die Auswahl an Kuchen/Torten/Gebäck ist riesig, und alles extrem wohlschmeckend. Die Mitarbeiter hinter der Theke sind äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit, aber das hört auf, sobald man im Café sitzt.Es dauert Ewigkeiten, bis man bedient wird, denn schließlich muss man mit den Kollegen schwatzen, bis man sich in Zeitlupe zum Gast bewegt. Jedes Mal wird irgendetwas vergessen oder verwechselt. Ich bestelle grundsätzlich normale Milch zum Tee oder Kaffee, das ist der Bedienung noch nie gelungen, dass im ersten Anlauf zu bewerkstelligen. Und am besten man bezahlt direkt, denn sonst dauert es wieder Ewigkeiten, nochmals die Aufmerksamkeit des Personals zu erhaschen, um bezahlen zu können, und auch das klappt selten im ersten Anlauf.Der schlechtesten Service, den ich auf deutschem Boden erlebt habe, die DDR mal ausgenommen.
