Assan Popsis - Kouvola

An excellent place that serves tasty domestic dishes. They also offer all-you-can-eat buffet weekends, which is a huge plus. Good variety of different foods with the menu change daily. Coffee and desert are included in the buffet. Friendly service.

Hinta-laatusuhde on oikea lounasaikaan, todella yllättävä. Valinta on laaja, tila on rauhallinen ja tilava.

There are three restaurants in Kouvola railway station (one of them is more like a pub). Assan Popsis is the best lunch restaurant. They have views to the platform and on the other side to the city center. The location on the 2nd floor is central but very quiet. The restroom of the restaurant is good and clean, much better than the public restroom. This was my 5th visit in this restaurant. This time the lunch buffet (9.50 euros) included basic salads, pea soup, pork in Thai style, pike fillet, bread, homemade beer, milk, tea, coffee and crepes as a dessert. I was more gratified than in previous times. They even have take away lunches. However, they haven't many more options than the lunch buffet (this time only pork escalopes). So as a general restaurant Assan Popsis doesn't deserve four stars but as a cheap lunch restaurant it is worth four or even five stars.

This restaurant is quite hard to find. It is situated behind another restaurant (behind Aseman Vintti) on the second floor of the railway station. They had a very nice lunch buffet (the whole buffet 9 euros, only soup and salads 8 euros, only soup or salads 7 euros). Self-baked bread, milk, home-brewed beer, dessert and coffee/tea are included in the price of the buffet. Service was also nice. Toilets on the second floor were the dirtiest toilets I have ever seen in Finland. I hope that they will repair those toilets soon.
