Írjon visszajelzéstCame here today on the pursuit of some fruit bread, and in true Maddie Style came out with two loaves instead of 1. I wanted the traditional seeded fruit loaf but they had a new type available (Lithuanian Prune and Linseed Rye) and there were some samples to try. It was too delicious not to get! It was a fruit loaf, but had an almost savoury taste to it it was quite dense but not dry and very delicious! The regular seeded fruit loaf was also incredible delicious and soft with real hints of orange in there! This will become a regular purchase of mine!
I've been looking for a good rye baker for a long time and today I found it! Yahoooo haha <br/ <br/ This Russian/Polish baker is spot on. I read some reviews on here which were mixed so I'm glad I made the effort to go.<br/ <br/ This cafe is near Balaclava train station so I'm not sure why the addy is St Kilda east. I almost caught a tram to St.Kilda so I'm glad I didn't. <br/ <br/ The staff were absolutely lovely, really friendly and chatty. I ordered a strong skinny latte from the young barista which was perfect, thank you. No photo as I forgot. <br/ <br/ I've never seen so many different varieties of rye bread in my life. It was awesome! <br/ <br/ They had Borondinsky Rye, Polish Rye, Latvian Rye, Riga Rye, Oalousky Rye, San Fransisco sourdough rye. Some of the bread was sugar free and yeast free... perfect for me and yummm<br/ <br/ I ended up buying a sugar free rye bread, which I'm think was the Oalousky rye with a great crust. In fact it was THE best crust that I've ever had on a rye bread. Wow! <br/ <br/ I also brought a sweet bun similar to the one that I used to have with my family and friends. We had ours with a coffee or a cup of tea but our sweet bread has cinnamon. The bun today wasn't sweet which was good but OMGosh it tasted delicious. <br/ <br/ They have a $15 eftpos minimum or they charge you 50c so I ended up buying a bagel (at the assistants recommendation) to get me over the $15 mark lol. <br/ <br/ I was having a good chat to the staff and I noticed the Piroshki beef on the counter. This is cabbage and minced beef covered in batter and deep fried. This was an artery choker but it was sooo worth it hahaha 5/5 Yummmmmm <br/ <br/ Well I've almost half a loaf of the rye bread and the sweet bun since I've gotten home haha. Yes I'm a lover of good bread and now I've found my baker. <br/ <br/ This place is worth travelling for. I did today and I'll be travelling a lot in the future haha. And the best part is that this place is open 7 days a week. Perfect
Our new local for rye! The service has improved since moving locations and the range of rye bread to try is amazing!! <br/ <br/ My only negative has been the very average fruit sourdough. Stick to the rye breads and all will be good in the world!
Great service from the young lady working here.. very accommodating! The sandwhich deal with a coffee for $10 is great value for money and delicious. Coffee is satisfying and the bread is very tasty. Great lunch option when you are strapped for time.
Hands down the best bread in Melbourne; you won't find a better selection of rye sourdough. Polanga and Bavarian are my picks. Great coffee too!
