Golden Chick - La Grange

This location is one of the best in Texas. The staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere is spacious and welcoming. The food and beverage concession stand is clean and well-organized. While the bathroom could use some improvements, everything else exceeded my expectations.

Golden Chick is generally a decent choice, and I typically receive everything I order. However, today (12/20/21) was an exception. I ordered the sampler for $29.99, which is quite pricey, and they forgot to include the six yeast rolls. I ended up having to drive 15 minutes to retrieve the food, then call them repeatedly with no response—just a constant ring, and then the line went busy. I had to make another 30-minute trip just to pick up my six rolls, and there was no offer of compensation. A piece of chicken or some poppers would have really helped. Unfortunately, this whole experience cost me extra time and fuel. It can take quite a while to sort this out.

The fried chicken is quite good, but it doesn't quite match the quality of Popeyes. The sides are decent, but nothing extraordinary. They typically offer free soft napkins during dining, although the availability has decreased since COVID.

Excellent fried chicken! Honestly, I prefer the Giddings location because it seems like they change the cooking oil more frequently. However, La Grange is a close second...
