Excellent German food, wonderful service, would definitely recommend!
Continental Deli is a little German deli located in a shopping mall off Imperial Highway and Beach Boulevard, next door to Michaels Arts and Craft store in the city of La Habra. The store is divided into 2 sections: the dine-in cafe, and a market/ deli section. The store is not very large, and they don't have the largest selection of German goods, compared to say Alpine Village, Old World, or even Mattern's Deli in Orange. In fact, they get some of their deli meats from Mattern's, which is why I really like getting my deli meats from here. The bonus of this location is unlike Mattern's, this place is opened every day, even on Sundays. The staff told me that if Michael's is opened, they shall be opened, too. (May I say: Thank you, Michael's!
Really impressed. I came to this small restaurant by accident, but as soon as I saw that it was a German deli I had to try it. I was scared that they didn't take card but thankfully they did. The price was modest I paid around $7 for the sandwich which was delicious! I ordered a turkey sandwich with muenster cheese, it came with the side of potato salad and dill pickle. Sadly I'm not a fan of pickles, but that potato salad was delicious! The sandwich was perfect the right amount of mayonnaise and mustard. They are not stingy bout the meat or cheese (which is a big plus in my book). The staff was very friendly and the place was clean as well. I liked the fact that it had that mom and pop feel. I was amazed at the different kinds of bier they had. At checkout, I bought one of the pastries on display, it was a sort of Quarkstollen that had raisins and nuts in it. All in all this place was delicious, service was great, and I'm definitely coming back with company.
A Good Place. Although the Continental Deli is a little small and old fashioned it is affordable, quiet and clean. There are no dingy cheap restaurant odors to assault you as you enter. The staff is no nonsense and friendly. The portions are sensibly sized to leave plenty of room for a beer and/or pastry without having to worry about your arteries being clogged. I always order a Ruben on a French Roll. This comes complete with uncommonly good potato salad and a pickle. Ja Ja Ja Mmmmm.
