China Buffet - Lafayette

I’d been curious about this place since I first heard of it. I finally went yesterday. I should’ve known better than get out the car when I pulled up. But thought, what the hell I’m here and hungry. When I walked in, I was greeted by a boy about 16 that looked like he’d been beaten his whole life. That was the most sparsely stocked buffet I’ve ever seen! There wasn’t a full pan of anything, except soup. They have PLENTY! There were so few selections, I didn’t find anything particularly appealing. I’d read the butter potatoes and peanut chicken were good, I tried them. The potatoes had more of an Italian flavor than Asian. The peanut chicken though, yea that was kinda yummy. But I just couldn’t stand watching that boy walk around, wide eyed like he was expecting someone to jump out at him with a wooden spoon and punish him for something he didn’t know he did. But the thing that made my jaw drop, the warning labels EVERYWHERE! “…eat as much as you want but if you don’t clean your plate a 20% surcharge will be added to your bill.” Wait, WHAT? If I’m stuffed and can’t take that last bite of the egg roll, there’s another 20% charge?!?!? This sign is posted on the ends of every hot bar and on the napkin dispensers on all tables. BYE YALL! Delicious food, everything I tryed from the buffet was well seasoned and fresh. A little less options compared to other buffets I've been to, but the quality of the food more than makes up for that. Highly recommend. Went here for a friends birthday dinner, with a large group and were accommodated very well. Vegetarian options: I'm not a vegetarian but enjoyed some of those dishes. Garlic marinated baked mushrooms are awesome, salad bar and fresh fruit also

I love this place! Best food, especially the peanut chicken! Friendly staff, clean restaurant.

The food was pretty good. They did take a while to refill empty pans. There are a fair amount of options, but not as many as other places. I did go the whole meal without them offering to refill my drink. Price was fair
