I informed the staff that I was a vegan and they made sure to accommodate me. I started with samosas for an appetizer, followed by a main course of portobello mushroom, tofu, rice, and roasted vegetables, all of which were delicious. The dessert was also amazing. I was extremely impressed by both the quality and quantity of the food - the portions were huge.
We have dined at Trails End several times throughout the years, always making sure to visit on nights when Chef TJ is on duty. While the standard buffet may not have many options for vegans, Chef TJ goes above and beyond to create a delicious vegan meal for those lucky enough to be there when he is working. Be prepared to leave feeling very full, as we were presented with a multitude of dishes that we lost track of. My favorite was the perfectly seasoned grilled corn, and the kids were thrilled when Chef TJ served watermelon with tomatoes under smoked glass, creating a unique presentation as the smoke floated through the air. We also enjoyed samosas, grilled artichokes, and a main dish of noodles with vegetables and tofu that was so tasty we ended up taking home leftovers. The desserts were extravagant, featuring huge stacks of ice cream bars, cotton candy, cookies, strawberries, bananas, and chocolate sauce - a sight that left the kids in awe. The fun theming and location added to the experience, especially when we were able to watch the fireworks after our meal. The best part is that dining at Trails End does not require a park pass, making it a great activity for a day away from the parks. This dining experience is one that none of us will ever forget.
I recently vacationed at Disney World and came here for my final dinner. Our original reservation was for 7:30 but we arrived at 6:30 (note; the earlier the better) and were seated straight away. I visited with my omni cousin, so everything listed was served to me as a single diner I did not have to share any of it. Upon checking in, our receipt was stamped 'allergy ' and marked 'Vegan '. Our server notified the chef (Steven) and he came out to the table The Chef walked me through the salad bar, but warned me not to fill up on salad... this is a good warning!! Then the fun started... 1. Potato and Pea Samosas with a light curry sauce (i think there was also either a balsamic reduction or a sweet chili sauce as well on a bed of wilted spinach (there is lots of chili and sweet chili used in this meal). 2. Large plate of nachos with beans, fresh salsa and a cauliflower/butternut cheese sauce [i think that 's what it was]. 3.Butternut and Coconut Milk soup with Sweet Chili at the bottom of the dish. 4.Very Large plate of Fried Rice, with Grilled tofu and vegetables (zucchini, portabello mushroom, tomato, red onion) 5. Dessert; I received what appeared to be an entire pint of ice cream (either tofutti or rice dream; I 've never had either, so I couldn 't tell but these are the two that Disney seem to use). It was covered in a fresh Strawberry sauce, Hershey 's Chocolate Syrup and then had Banana and Enjoy Life Chocolate Cookies on the side. #icouldnotfinishthis As the dishes came out, my cousin who works in hospitality calculated how much i could have paid at another hotel or restaurant for what I received... it easily could have been $90 but I paid $34 (inc tip). You definitely get your monies worth here. I have heard rumors that Chef TJ has done a 7 course dinner before and is a bit more creative with his desserts. You will want to have an early booking (if you can get 5:30pm, do it). As i mentioned, we were seated at 6:30 and didn 't leave until past 9:00pm. If you are at Magic Kingdom, you can take a boat direct to the restaurant, if you are at any other park, you will need to take 2 buses (one to the Main parking, and one to the Settlement) you can not drive the entire way. As mentioned I have only heard of Chef 's TJ and Steven doing the Vegan meal. It doesn 't mean others don 't but I can guarantee quality of the meal. Generally these two work Mon Fri but also on the occasional Sunday. Photos posted
I ordered a pizza and a sandwich to take away. The takeout options were improved compared to our last visit, but it seems like they have switched to counter service for sit-down dining, which is disappointing for a campground/resort where the average nightly cost is $200+. It didn't meet the standards I would expect for Disney. The food was good, fresh, and the staff was great. Hopefully, there will be changes in the future.
