Rifugio Stoppani - LECCO

We went to Stoppani to do the Gamma 1 Ferrata and a few more in the area. With regards to location for climbing or for walking this Rifugio is lovely. If you're going to sleep there, prepare yourself for a shared bathroom and shower and only one of each. The food is decent, but nothing grand so don't expect anything spectacular other than the views. It's a lovely place to visit to enjoy the sunset and a lovely trek around Mount Resegone.

It is simply not acceptable! I asked for a table reservation at 12:45; at 1:00 pm I ask the maid to move my reservation from indoor to outdoor; she gave me paper towels, glasses and cutlery asking me to come back inside to place my order which I could read on a blackboard outside. I came back few minutes later waiting for the maid to come out from the kitchen, looking at the beautiful mountain pictures on the walls and sadly looking at the dozen queuing to pay their bill at the bar. Coming When coming out from the kitchen the maid was always in a hurry, telling me, “please wait…” After 20 minutes I asked the other lady cashing at the bar, if I could place my order as I was waiting for a long time. She didn’t answer, she simply said: queue! I tried to explain that I made a reservation half an hour before and that her colleague told me to come inside to give her my order: not to queue! I asked to the hut manager from the small window looking into the kitchen if it was possible to leave him or the other lady, my order. In a very bad manner he repeated that I had to queue. I told him that if they informed me and the other client in a clear way that it was necessary to queue before placing an order, I would have done it immediately; it wasn’t acceptable to start queuing after half an hour wait. Unbelievable in a mountain hut where courtesy and kindness should prevail. I left the hut with my friends moving to the cable-car station, in a much better place where to eat and drink a good beer.
