Wondered in off the street and I was met with a welcoming staff, not something I have found in many places in Newtown.
There was a crowd gathered out front when we attended on New Years Day and the front area appeared full, but we were encouraged by the barista to check in
A great catastrophe occurred in Leichhardt in 2004 - our favourite Italian restaurant "Albas" restaurant closed!14 years later it has returned as "Enzos".Husband and wife Alba and Enzo and their family have brought their wonderful cuisine back to us and I have been twice in the past week - firstly with my wife and then with eight other family members. Each occasion was delightful and some of the family were overjoyed that they could have "Fettucine salsicce con funghi" to revive their memories of past times. Others were a little sad to not find "Spaghetti Carratiera" on the menu [we will have to continue cooking our own version of it as we have for the past 14 years] but no one was disappointed with other choices on offer. As always friendliness was one of the hallmarks of the restaurant and the standard of food coming out of the kitchen was top notch. This is seriously a place you should not miss.
People were telling me about Enzos, so I finally decided to go. The food was delicious, authentic Italian and full of flavour. The entree size is more than enough and is cheap. The family who run it are all really friendly, attentive and love having a chat. The prices range from $4-15 Antipasto, Pasta entrees are about $14 and the main size from $17. The mushroom ripieni is a must and orecchiette la barsco (from memory), it has broccolini, garlic, anchovies etc. It is all yummmyyy! Do yourself a favour and go!
