Wing Lee Brockley - Lewisham

Three of us, two vegetarians/pescatarians and one carnivore, were back home and decided to have a midweek Chinese takeaway. Our usual go-to spot, New Winner in Lewisham, was closed on a Tuesday so we went through some old leaflets and found one from 2017 and 2018. We ordered a variety of dishes, made a phone call at 9:04 pm, and because our order exceeded £30, we were offered a bottle of coke which we declined in favor of a simple rice dish. We also requested new menus for 2019 due to differences we noticed between the 2017 and 2018 menus in terms of dishes and prices. The food arrived at 9:43 pm, slightly past the half hour prediction, which was not an issue for us. The delivery person was friendly and received a 10% tip on top of the £36.40 bill. The food was delivered hot and in single-use plastic containers, along with a pot of sweet chilli sauce. However, there were no rice crackers included, and the menu was unclear about whether they were offered for free with orders over £10 or coke over £30. The food, while enjoyable, did not quite meet the high standards of New Winner. There were plenty of large chunks of peppers and onions in the dishes, with a slightly stir-fried taste. The black bean sauce lacked the intensity and spice compared to NW, but the duck in lemon sauce was generous and tasty. The bean curd in satay sauce did not have a noticeable peanut flavor. The crispy seaweed with grated scallops was mostly seaweed with a hint of orange mush, not clearly resembling scallops. The grilled dumplings were decent, although we assumed they were pork without it being specified. The kung po squid was battered and tasty, as was the mixed seafood with green pepper. Unfortunately, we did not receive the new menus we requested, so we have included images of the 2018 menu with the 2017 version beneath it. Overall, the food was satisfactory but fell short compared to New Winner.

This takeaway restaurant is excellent, and we are regular customers. Whenever we order from Wing Lee and have friends over, they always comment on how delicious it is. It is definitely better than other restaurants we have tried. Keep up the great work!

This restaurant may be overlooked by many, but it is truly outstanding. While it is primarily for takeout, you will eagerly look forward to returning home to savor the diverse and expertly prepared dishes from skilled chefs. The menu offers a wide variety to choose from, and the prices are very reasonable. You can dine here with confidence.

I came here for years, management has changed a few years ago and had first thought. However, I recently made an order for a quarter aromatic escape etc. and was not satisfied with it, but the wing lee personal corrected the error quickly. they are getting better with the food, service and delivery.

Good vegetarian options, friendly service and the biggest early roll I have ever seen!
