This place reminded me of a place from my young called Brown's Cafe in South Hill Virginia (country town). Very old school vibes . And I have not been to any soul food place with smothered turkey necks on the menu. Also the very best candied yams and pintos(seasoned with turkey necks) I've tasted . The nostalgia ?this is my Mama and Daddy kinda place !

When I tell you this food is so dang good it makes you wanna smack your mama that’s a complete understatement. This is my second time coming here and it’s the best food I’ve had in ages!!! Ya’ll go get you a plate or three heck use this place as your cheat day gym rats it’s worth it!!! The side dishes are just as good if not better than the mains! The green beans and Mac n cheese are my favorites. The oxtail is so tender the ribs fall off the bone and melt in your mouth! I could go all day but you just have to try it for yourself! You wanna know what food tastes like in heaven?? Go to JJ’s Mama’s Soul Food! I promise you will not regret it! The staff is so nice also. There aren’t many people working here so wait times can be a little longer but like it says when you walk in they don’t make fast food they make amazing food as fast as they can! The food here is SMACKIN' GOOD! If you love country cookin' with flavor, you gotta eat here! It's the best food I've eaten ANYWHERE in Lexington, NC. Best bang for your buck, guaranteed! You'll be amazed at how good the food and service is. Do it! You'll be glad you did!

I didn't even make it out of the parking lot with my to go order.Best soul food I've had from a restaurant in a long time. If you haven't eaten here. You are missing out..It's worth the trip.

Man look, I thought I was in my grandmother's kitchen while eating these oxtail's over rice, collards and in house made green beans... My wife ordered the pork chop dinner with Mac and cabbage... I also ordered the family meal, 8 piece chicken dark hush puppy's and fries... This is soul food at its best, I recommend this place to anyone who loves southern cooking...
