Írjon visszajelzéstThe Gryphon D’or Tearoom has been serving great comfort food for approximately twenty-one years on Monkland Avenue in the borough of Notre Dame de Grace. They are known for having some of the best scones in Montreal. But it does not stop here, the small yet cozy quaint tearoom, also now serves late breakfasts and brunch, lunch and take-out. It is the perfect place for a quiet break, fantastic homemade meals or a just a pot of tea with friends and family.
Great service, good food. The Gryphon d'or is a quite small restaurant and very narrow, it kind of looks like someone's home. But the staff is very welcoming and attentive. I had the afternoon tea menu with some friends and it was pretty good. The scones with cream and their jam is delicious. The sandwiches were egg salad and cucumber, it was a bit ordinary, like something you could just make yourself for lunch at work. The desserts were delicious, but 2 of them were a bit too similar to the scone's toppings (cream, jam and lemon curd).<br/ <br/ Because of the size of the restaurant, you should really call and reserve your table in advance. While we were there, we saw a few people turned away.
Amazing food, great service. Nice way to spend Sunday brunch with loved ones.
The moment you walk through the door you feel a welcome energy. This unpretentious gem in the heart of the Monkland Village offers one if not the best brunches in town. We were greeted by Kyla who sets the warm ambience of this culinary experience. As my companions and I ordered Donna the owner/ brunch chef engaged us and made several suggestions. The top pick for brunch for 3/4 of us was the Rarebit Benedict. Served on an English Scone, we were served 2 perfectly poached eggs with your choice of grilled vegetables or bacon. Served o the dish was potatoes, fruit and home made apple crumbled in home made phyllo dough. The piece de resistance was the home made Hollandaise that is made with beer and Rarebit cheddar. This was so good I asked for more for the table to sop up what little we had left on our plates. They are very accommodating and will work around your preference which is rare in this day and age. After our meal, Donna offered us more scones with home made lemon curd, caramel and marmalade . Simply deliscious. We will be back again and again as this will be our regular haunt for weekend brunches. My only issue is that when this catches on, we will have to start waiting in line to get in. 6 out of 5 stars!
Super good! friendly place ..good energy. food is fantastic especially the 'rarebit benedict ' hollandaise sauce made with strong cheese and beer!
