Cattlemens - Livermore

Cattleman's did quite well! I visited with a group of about seven, and since we had made reservations, we were seated right away with friendly service. I must admit that it took a bit of time for the young lady to take our order, but considering it was a busy Sunday night, I completely understand the pressure. I ordered Pete's special, which was a great deal. The New York steak was delicious, with fantastic flavor and tenderness, and the mashed potatoes were quite good too. The mojito I ordered was okay—just a little watery. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal. This is an excellent restaurant, and I will definitely be returning for more!

I haven't been to a Cattlemens in quite a while and was looking forward to my visit. Unfortunately, it turned out to be disappointing. The bread was excellent, and the artichoke dip was good as well, but the rest of the meal fell short. I really wanted to leave a better review, especially since the staff was very friendly and apologetic.

The restaurant offered plenty of delicious food. The potato skins were fantastic, and I had the Prime Rib French Dip, which featured tender meat. We couldn't finish our meals and ended up taking half of them home. The service was also excellent! However, we did have to wait 35 minutes for a table for two, as there were no reservations available.

Had Hubby's Birthday dinner party of 18 there on the Saturday before Mother's Day. After several trips to the reception desk and asking other waiters, we still ended up waiting an hour before a waiter showed up to explain. He apologized profusely, saying he was in the middle of serving another party of 20 singlehandedly. He then started getting other waiters to bring us water and bread. Once he finished with the other group, it went a lot smoother. The other problem was that we were told that since the kitchen was backed up and overwhelmed, our choices for our meat was rare or well done, that anything in-between would be a lot longer to get out. Portions were good sized and everyone's order was correct.

I've been in California 2 weeks and have ate out every night. This has by far been the best restaurant I've ate at so far. I got the rustler steak. I poured some A1, and some of their other sauce on a side plate to dip, and I never even used it. I didn't want to cover that flavor. It was perfect and melted in my mouth. I'll definitely be stopping here for a meal anytime I'm in the area.
