You could bring your own munchies or buy from the local food truck (the sandwich man-great ! , or order a charcuterie board from the cafe-we did both and were very happy we did . The accompanying white wine was crisp and tasty . The music by Alicia Toner was terrific! What a fantastic find!!
I have reviewed this establishment before, giving it 5 of 5. In June we had out of country guests and phoned for a reservation but the answering machine said the in box was full and I could not leave any message. Later I phoned again and the owner said it was a cell phone and he was away from the restaurant and asked me to call back later which I did at which time he accepted our reservations. When we arrived the place was closed. Later i again phoned and the owner said I had made reservations for a day they routinely closed. Last Friday 4 of us travelled to Longview for dinner and arrived at HayWire at 6 p.m. for dinner but the owner told us they were closed. No explanation. Local residents have told me that one never knows if the place will be open or not and they have stopped trying. Just saying. Do not count on travelling to this place and expect it will be open.
We were traveling along the Cowboy Trail and saw this restaurant as we drove through Longview. Very friendly waiter greeted us and we both had the fish and chips which were very tasty. Worth stopping if you are driving through this part of southern Alberta.
We ordered fish and chips. The chips we're great. The fish was so so kinda tastless. I might try again just to be sure. Maybe it was an off day.
Some of the best food on the cowboy trail. Must stop and check it out
