Írjon visszajelzéstWe found this very popular little local bar by chance some years ago, by following a Restaurant sign on a road into the remote hills of northern Portugal, and we have never been back to this lovely quiet forested area without stopping by for a meal which is basic but wonderful. Do not expect chic, smart, modern, reservations or even a menu! There is a dish of the day which is the same every week so everyone knows what it is there's a minimal kind of list on the wall by the bar, Tuesday chicken, Thursday soup for example, but febras (pork escalope) is almost always available as well. Olives and bread arrive unasked, the wine comes anonymously in a jug. Soup is sopa do pedras, absolutely traditional and brimming with beans, meat and vegetables. Pork is lean, well seasoned and thin sliced on top of a bed of rice and French fries with good fresh salad on the side. The chamfana when they have it is wonderfully tender young goat, on the bone and marinated in red wine. The first time we went, the owner brought out some of his father's home made liqueur (dad had just given it to him) with our coffee as we sat in the cicada loud silence of the countryside, and we tried to chat in Portuguese while searching the night sky for shooting stars. The bill is invariably a shock every time we have to ask if they charged us individually, but no, the amount we consider reasonable for one person turns out to be for four!
