La Terrasse San Román

This restaurant was delicious. The winery was recommended to us, and we didn't have any intentions on eating. We decided to get a few wine tastings (there were seven of us, and four people did a 3, 4, 6 and 6 respectively. We decided that we needed a little bit of food to go with the wine so we got a cheese plate, and I got a chicken plate after some hemming and hawing, since I wasn't drinking. I was SO glad that I did! It was delicious and made perfectly. The presentation of the cheese plate was beautiful. Of course, I took a photo and can't seem to find it. It had dried slices of fruit, several kinds of cheese including one or two goat cheeses, and some compote jam on a spoon. Everyone loved it, and it got eaten up quickly. The chef came out to check on us, which was a nice personable touch. The scenery was perfect, out in the open and you could see the wine fields and the weather couldn't have been nicer. The nice person from the winery came and explained the wines and poured them as we enjoyed the bites. Apparently, there is a branch of this restaurant in San Diego, and my mom loved it so much she plans on making the 2 hour trip to San Diego to enjoy it again.
