Waffle House - Madison

I love Waffel house. I ordered 2 sandwiches, to go. I was quite surprised that they added on a 10% surcharge for it being a To Go order. They also added a 15% gratuity to be split between the server who took the order and the cook. That is a total of 25% added to your total. I was a server for over 30 years and except for large parties a tip was never automatically added. It is called a gratuity because the customer is showing their great fullness and tips according to how well their service was. When automatically adding a tip a server has no incentive to be exceptional. It 's the old everyone on the team gets a trophy. If that is the case, prices should include the tip and servers should have a higher wage. And....does the tip get added to the total that includes the 10%. Next time I will bring my own to go dish and when they bring my food, I can put it in my own container. I can also then tip according to what I feel was deserved. I normally tip 20% or more for good service.

Wow. Quite possibly the best Waffle House. Service was five stars. thanks Jodi! Fastest food has ever come out of the kitchen. And it smacked. Major compliments to the cook.

Waitress was friendly, they were very busy and still our food was out very quickly! Food was hot and fresh!

Cook did a great job. Some food sat and got cold due to waitresses not taking to tables faster. It's not the cooks' fault. Was not that busy. A young lady was training, and she was doing good. Very attentive. Our food was good. Two other waitresses were good but spent some time goofing off as well as off and on the phone. Definitely not a positive role model for someone training. We were ready to order for a little while and were just waiting on the waitress to take our order (maybe 10 minutes and it was not the young lady training. I would go back. Just need to work a little more on positive role model training and respect towards a job and job title. There is always something that can be done.
