Casa Manolo - Madrid

We vacation in Madrid several times a year and always visit this restaurant at least once. Service is never less than friendly and the typical local dishes are extremely good value. If you welcome good home cooking at a centrally located site and at a very affordable price then this is the place for you.

If you are around the Cortes neighborhood in downtown Madrid, this is the place to get excellent croquetas , tortillas , churros and other Spanish cuisine heavyweights like cocido or callos . Very typical and traditional bar-restaurant where you will get the real taste of this old town .

Looking for lunch and shelter from a chilly down pour we found this gem. We were immediately given a warm welcome and lead through the tapas bar to a small dining room with dark wood and mirrored panels. There are just eight tables each with racks for coats and umbrellas. Casa Manolo was established eighty years ago, serves traditional home cooked meals and frequented by local people for lunch and tapas, also very popular with audiences after evening performances at the nearby Teatro de la Zarzuela. No English menu, but not needed as the quality of the dishes plus the friendly, helpful service made this a memorable visit. Needless to say, very good value and ideal for a long lunch after a morning’s art trail.

Chrome stoves, the tortilla very made. rabies and chipirones in their good ink. only one white wine to choose from. Good waiters.

Traditional cuisine well made. generous rations. family business for years that know how to maintain the level. Very good deal.
