Da Ghigo's was disappointing. Nothing much to complain about but nothing much to entice you either. The waiter was sarcastic but can't say it made me laugh, the food was OK but nothing I couldn't have cooked myself at home (apart from it being difficult to get hold of wild boar), and overall it seemed overpriced.
This is not the first time I have dinner with my family da Ghigo . I had dinner inside, as it was too cold for the outside terrace with a great view on Argentario . Antipasto is quite good, but Carpaccio di Zucchine is a must, quite a smooth taste, good for a start. Pasta is always tasty, like tagliatelle al ragout di cinghiale , that is not as oily as in other local restaurants, or the bavette , with a fresh tomato sauce moderately spicy. Tagliata or Agnello scottadito are my best choices, but the owner will give you good advice on the daily menu. Do not forget red wine, they offer a local wine that tastes wonderful, for a fraction of a labelled bottle price. In summary, very very good quality-to-price ratio.
We came to eat at da Ghigo because of the opportunity for my coeliac daughter to enjoy homemade gluten free pasta, while we were on holiday in maremma. The pasta was excellent and all the norms for cooking and making it were observed as the owner 's daughter is a coeliac. Those who did not have these problems also enjoyed a delightful dinner too.
This is a classic trattoria. It is family run with unbelievable views towards Argentario and the sea. The food was well cooked and delicious. Not a massive choice for vegetarians though. Very friendly service and overall a lovely evening.
