For dinner, the dress code is "nice casual," while jeans are perfectly acceptable for lunch. They serve a fantastic brunch buffet on Sundays. The Barefoot Bar is especially popular among singles and young couples, offering a delightful selection of drinks—don't miss their mai tai! While the bar is usually vibrant and full of youthful energy, the dining room provides a pleasant and relaxing environment. The decor showcases its Hawaiian heritage, featuring various surf memorabilia. A large glass wall opposite the ocean offers breathtaking views, especially on clear nights, where you can spot seagulls landing on the rocks outside. On weekends, a charming ukulele player serenades guests with a soothing voice, though be prepared; his companion may try to get you up to hula along! The meal is not inexpensive, but it’s certainly not outrageous either—last time I dined there, a meal for three adults and a child, including three cocktails, came to $140, and it was well worth it. If I recall correctly, the menu is a la carte.
This restaurant is a delightful gem. It's a well-established spot that blends Hawaiian and Californian cuisine beautifully. The crab dishes are outstanding, the brunch selection is generous, and the Mud Pie for dessert is simply heavenly. I enjoyed sitting at the barefoot bar—though I preferred it with sand rather than concrete, I do appreciate the cleanliness now. Watching dolphins swim in what might be the most stunning stretch of beach in the continental US truly feels like a dream come true.
Duke's has two sections: a lively barefoot bar and a quieter, more spacious dining area. We opted for a cozy booth in the dining section, directly facing the ocean. Our server was easygoing yet professional, and our food arrived surprisingly quickly. While there were a few concerns about the freshness of the dishes, overall, the food was decent—neither outstanding nor terrible. The portion sizes are generous; I ended up with two meals from my fish plate, while my husband polished off his ribs without issue. If you're looking for a light and healthy dinner, this isn't the place for you. While I probably wouldn’t return for dinner given the moderate food quality relative to the prices, I would love to come back for brunch and enjoy a tropical drink or two while taking in the relaxing ocean views.
Great food. Great service.
