Alamo Steakhouse Saloon - Mattoon

Always excellent, friendly service. The bull stitches and sauce are a must-try appetizer every time we visit. The overnight marinated steak (I believe it's called the distiller) had a sweet flavor that I wasn't particularly fond of; I wish this was mentioned in the description. The tuna steak is incredibly flavorful and comes as a generous main dish! The shrimp was also delicious.

My friend and I visited this restaurant after a long day of hiking, and it turned out to be the best meal we had all week. Our server, Paul P., was outstanding! He was attentive, always checking to see if we needed anything, and he was incredibly friendly. We wholeheartedly support giving Paul a raise!

We had a great visit. We got there for happy hour apps and had the nachos. They were covered with delicious melty cheese!! We both ordered the rib. They were cooked for our pleasure, but unfortunately not seasoned. We had to salt them ourselves. The salads were good and the salad plate was nice and cold! The garlic was good and had a lot of garlic taste.

Unbelievable menu. Absolutely love this restaurant. The menu is amazing and love the decor inside. I can never get past the Bang Bang Shrimp.. always get a double order.. amazing

I haven't been to this restaurant in a while, but I must say it is undoubtedly the best in Mattoon and Charleston. We were served by a delightful young waiter named Jordan, who is only 18 years old. He truly knew how to attend to our table with a warm smile and friendly demeanor. The food was exquisite! We started with some wonderful mushroom appetizers. I opted for the pork chops, which were tender, moist, and delicious, while my husband enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak. The bread was warm and fresh, and the salad was crisp and refreshing. It was clear to see why this restaurant is ranked number one, as it was bustling with patrons. After our meal, I spoke with Alex, the manager, to commend him on his fantastic team. I shared my appreciation for the food and expressed how I consider this restaurant my top choice.
