Not long ago, McLaren Vale was regarded as a rather poor substitute for the Barossa Valley. Within the last ten years or so, with the arrival of brilliant new restaurants and exciting new wineries the region has a new character and confidence. Ellen Street proves the extent of that revival. A beautiful setting, knowledgable and welcoming staff and food of the highest international standard. This is not simply one of McLaren Vale's best restaurants; it is one of Australia's best restaurants.

Sunday lunch, table of 4 with friends. Lovely spot with great views was just the beginning! Friendly, attentive service from very knowledgeable staff. Very creative menu with lots of nice little touches, we had the set price 3 courses which my wife and I shared each course as we normally do so we can try as many different things as possible. The food was just sensational, I'm not normally that big on presentation because it's all about the flavors and textures for me, but this was absolutely top shelf on all accounts. From the chefs to the table staff these people are passionately invested and it shows, very well done to all.

It was our best friends birthday and we wanted somewhere special. Mark Maxwell the owner was on hand to welcome us into his beautiful tasting room with an open fire and smiling faces. we chose the 'feed us' menu which included 5 savoury courses and a sweet. Believe me this is definitely the way to go. Apart from the fact that we didn't have to commit to a main meal and potentially miss out on something awesome, ...............what other reason is there ??? seriously ! give this dining experience a 5 star. Every dish was a picture on a plate. Delicious flavours and colours that just excited us for what might come next. From the first plate to the final desert we just thought WOW. seriously JUST DO IT !!!
