Enter Footscray Milking Station.Today was our third and last visit to this busy local haunt. Here's why. They added non gluten-free bacon to an order that was asked by us..and confirmed by the waitstaff..to be GF.The cappuccinos were flat whites with chocolate (seriously, Melbourne varistas have forgotten how to froth milk). My breakfast bacon burger was bland and tasteless; when the brioche bun has more flavour than the bacon, tomato, egg etc you've got some challenges. The table wasn't cleared despite staff walking past several times, checking on us, and walking on.Here's my 3 rules;1. Don't go2. If you must go, double-check your order with your server3. Don't order a cap. Go flat white and avoid disappointment.
Visited several times and assume the popularity of this place comes down to the fact it is the only place nearby serving coffee and food- it sits on the corner in a residential street near the Footscray train station and has lots of passing foot traffic. It certainly isnt cheap and isnt a place to grab a bite daily as it will hurt your budget. They have recently changed menus and it appears more limited than before. Certainly the gluten free options have reduced and i was advised i could have the corn fritters (gluten free)- who eats corn fritters (no seriously). What happened to the toasted sandwiches on offer that can be made gluten free? I even tried ordering bacon and eggs on gluten free toast to be told 'our bacon isnt gluten free'- now that really is weird because most bacon these days is gluten free- think i would change suppliers. Get the feeling the staff are inconvenienced serving people. Lots of staff chatter and moving around but always slow when food is ordered.
Cute little place in footscray. Went there for a birthday brunch. Had the smashed avocado on toast which was really nice, but kinda small for the price. Same with the beef pie which was on special. Did really like their beef wrap. Meet was tender...More
Always fast and friendly service whether in a for a quick coffee or a longer breakfast. Located perfectly with parking always available right outside making it convenient for a quick stop on the way to work.
What a pleasant little breakfast spot. Secluded on a street corner , with very pleasant staff. Breakfast options suited for most tastes , and good coffee. Well worth a visit for a quiet morning indulgence.
