We had both Bife de chorizo, which was cooked for perfection and we could actually observe how the cook did it on the...Asado, from where we sat on the balcony. It had excellent taste and the chimichurri sauce accompanied it well. We shared dessert from a chocolate volcano that was also good. Service by a very powerful bilingual server made the experience pleasant and the wine finished the meal perfectly. Would highly recommend as excellent value for money.
As others have said, it is perfectly okay and for prices more than that. One night when we needed to simply eat a grilled trout was beyond criticism, butterfly and served with appetite potatoes. A bottle of Baron B was cold as a crystal and hit the square several times. The staff was friendly and friendly. There are better places in Mendoza, but this is quiet, seemed safe, and perhaps was good for lunch for the evening after dinner.
This was highly recommended by our hotel concierge, but as the saying goes, "de gustibus non disputandum est." Neither my wife nor I appreciated the parillada, a selection of beef innards including kidneys, intestines, sweetbreads, etc. We are adventurous diners and have an affinity to such delicacies, but these were all badly overcooked (apparently not to Argentines). The wine list was fine, though mostly devoted to Malbecs of the region.
I usually tend to root for the underdog, be it in sports, politics, you name it. So naturally, I went with high hopes to dine at Asador Don Manuel on a peculiar yet competitive night such as is New Year's Eve. Their menu was promising on paper but failed to deliver on the palate. The cold entrées and buffet were scarce and not cold enough: a big 'no no' when melon, prosciutto, and ham have been hanging out for a while. The same for the desserts; they were all unpremeditatedly warm. What salvaged the night were the main dishes: chivito ( grilled goat) on point and a decent pink salmon. Yet nothing to get overtly excited about, though I was really really wishing it would have been.To finalize, it was an extremely warm night (85 deg F) with most of the dining hall reserved. One A/C. We might as well have been roasting right alongside the goat. Our waiter was amicable. Unfortunately, it just didn't suffice.
We tried several Parrilladas while in Mendoza and this one is for sure one the very best and also one of the cheapest. The service was also excellent. I would definitely go back there
