Shiok! Singapore Kitchen - Menlo Park

Had another wonderful meal. The samosa and roti prata as appetizers and the Shiok Sparerib King and the Singapore Chilli Prawn with coconut rice and sambal string beans as the main courses. Wonderful Singaporean cuisine.

Horrible service. Waiters on phones ignoring customers for 15 minutes requiring customers to get up and physically talk to them to get service. When mentioned that we had been waiting a long time, waiter laughed.

Returned to visit Shiok after being away for awhile. Menu and choices still excellent and food remains consistently good. I especially enjoyed the Siam noodles. Quite busy for a Monday evening and will certainly return soon.

If you have never had Singaporean food before, I’d give a 3 out of 5 for the food. If you have had Singaporean food or been a local in Singapore at some point, please don’t bother coming here!! The dishes were bland/tasteless. My cosmopolitan every sip was an effort to swallow. The red wine had turned. Sea bass in banana leaf was absolutely tasteless…. I was so disappointed. Coconut rice was…. Just plain white rice. Eggplant was cooked well, but sauce needs kick. Chilli prawns were decent….. but barely any chilli in them. Sambal udang….. had no sambal. Their house salad was nothing more than a plate of shredded iceberg lettuce, nothing more. Rotti was OK, but sauce pretty tasteless. Prices were decent. We are not going back. I really don’t understand the positive reviews here.
