This tea room is delightful but they miss the mark with their TEA. The decor is very sweet and the staff is so welcoming. It is a special place to have lunch with your daughter or friends. The food is homemade and very good. I'd say the scone upon arrival is a nice touch but to add a small cream and jam is $8.50. Yikes!Now the actual tea. I was extremely disappointed to open the tea box and find bags of Bigelow tea. Not that loose tea is even needed, but there are so many other brands of tea out there that are definitely more flavorful. Mighty Leaf tea is one of them. With everything else at this tea house obviously made special, I am miffed about the lack of attention to the actual tea. Also, my water for my tea came out in a sweet teapot but the water was not hot enough. I'd happily pay $5 for a cup of better tea.

The Merrillville Tearoom is beautiful and the food is delicious. A wonderful place to meet friends and enjoy.
