Novello - Middlesbrough

I went to this place on Valentine's day with my wife for the very first time. Nicely greeted on arrival by the host. The interior was ambient and welcoming. We opted for the 3 course Valentine's day menu at £21.95 per head. Starters (root vegetable soup and crab cakes) were great. However, that's where the good news ends. We then waited 45 minutes for the main course. Once it arrived, I was less than satisfied. The chicken tasted bland and overcooked. The lobster ravioli was undercooked and tasteless. The salmon was well made but not enough to constitute a main course. The chips never arrived, even after calling over the waiter to complain. The waitress offered to remove our drinks and desserts from the bill which was a nice gesture. However, I would have preferred to have left with a full stomach and fully satisfied. Needless to say, this would be our first and last visit to this Italian.

Very disappointed the parmo was still pink! So sent it back waited over 45 minutes for different food got a burger (well done)but by the time it came out everyone was finished on my table so took it home and looked like this I wouldn't recommend this place what so ever dont think the chef can cook plus the manager was serving us and to top it off we where still waiting for the burger and the kids ice-creams to come and he came over asking to see if we where waiting for the bill!! Had loads of meals here, food and service the best I've received anywhere. Nice cocktails. Would recommend it to anyone. They always cater for my Mum's gluten intolerance and food is still as delicious.

Decided to take my partner here for a first date. From the moment we stepped through to door staff were polite and respectful. They seated us quickly and table service was very fast. The food was also served very quickly and was absolutely impeccable. Absolutely brilliant restaurant. Would highly recommend.
