Tonic - MILLTHORPE

Very happy to return to Tonic after far too long a break. Their degustation menu was terrific and surprisingly good value. Yes, they still have the stupidest cutlery known to man, but if you can wrestle with absurdly designed knives, you'll not be disappointed. We'll be back.

Beautiful evening dining with my wonderful husband. Tonic restaurant is absolutely 5 stars plus more. Beautiful dining experience. The staff are so hospitable ,professional with such fine service. Food presentation alone was amazing . The food was simply 'superb ' Having 5 courses ; Pumpkin veloute served in a classic China tea cup saucer, Blue eye cod accompanied with spiced lentils eggplant, Mandagery creek venison ravioli beetroot, chicken breast accompanied with chickpea cauliflower and to finish off with the most delicate Erindale orange souffle` Exquisite. The place that packs an absolute punch in terms of food flavour, presentation and taste! Staff are incredible with impeccable service, the wine list is great and I cannot praise the food highly enough. Definitely a must visit if you are anywhere near Orange, you will be treated to incredible fine dining like it used to be in the good old days!

What started to be a nice evening a few weeks back, had the most regrettable interruption. diner went nice, the food was in order, during a quick visit in the toilet I saw the chef (lightly longer restlessly haired gentleman) go directly to the hand basin and back to the kitchen without washing his hands. shocked, I put my head around the corner and saw that he did not wash in the kitchen either and just went back to prepare food. I took my wife and shy, paid the bill and went. it would have been a 3 or 4. he did number 2, he did not number 1, if they know what I mean!

Children are not welcome. average food, service and experience. we visited the venue for a special birthday dinner and the food and drink service was awfully slow and we wanted to constantly clean more drinks/tables. we had to bring a 10 months old baby and there was no high chair (the message was given to a family member, but not passed on). we were happy to improvise them and put them in their pram. not long after the arrival my man took our daughter to look out the window to entertain her, and the boss/owner was quietly obvious, in the statement to another employee being disgusting that there was a baby in the restaurant. later in the evening after I had enough, I asked the boss/owner...read more
