Rare Steakhouse - Milwaukee

Very very average. Unfortunately, Rare was not up to my expectations for a steakhouse at this price point. I really hope this was just an off night, but I probably won’t be back to find out.We ordered: Maryland style crab cake, scallops, and the KC strip. We have the mushrooms and the beef fat fries as sides.The highlight of the meal was the free popovers with strawberry butter. The crab cakes and the KC strip were just not very flavorful. The scallops had a fishy odor so my husband decided not to finish his dish just in case.Mostly a big disappointment. For the money, you’re much better off at Carnevor.

First we 'd like to say that there was only one waiter for the evening. It took about 15 minutes before we were acknowledged by wait staff/help. Crafted cocktails were good. Appetizers were also good and came to the table timely. We ordered a loaded bake potato, Brussel sprouts and we each had a bottleneck cut steak MR. Bake potato was not cooked through and short on the bacon and cheese. Sprouts were burnt. Waiter began to explain that it was the oil. I politely stopped him in his explanation because they were obviously burnt. He was only making it worse. Steaks were good. They did offer us a complementary dessert for our anniversary. We declined, but were appreciative. The atmosphere was as a classic steakhouse. Your Polite Notice was completely ignored by all but us and one other table. Polite Notice – For the comfort of all guests and to better deliver on our promise of a refined atmosphere, proper dress is required. Thank you for not wearing gym attire, sweatpants, tank tops, hats, clothing with offensive language or images, exposed undergarments, or overly exposure. The sprouts were not taken off the bill. No need for us to go back.

Celebrated my wedding anniversary and I loved that it was empty and quiet (it was Summerfest weekend). I ordered their seafood special and never did I expect the two-tier platters of seafood I received! It was so delicious and lots of leftovers to take home. I am not good at cracking lobsters, and our server helped me. He was so kind! My husband tried the Wagyu and he was not impressed. He said he prefers the NY Strip over the Wagyu. Maybe it's an acquired taste? Overall, great food and excellent service. We love coming to Rare.

Our experience at Rare Steakhouse was exceptional. Our server, Raj, was outstanding. He was very attentive to detail and knowledgeable about the entire menu- including their wine selection. We aren't from the area, but plan to come back at least once a year. I would absolutely recommend Rare Steakhouse to any of my friends or family that are in the Milwaukee area, but also highly recommend to request Raj as their server.

My husband (and family and I have always had an amazing experience at Rare. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are always top notch! While one of our previous favorite servers went on to become an attorney (and we are happy for him! , our newest favorite server, Raj, has absolutely matched and even exceeded our earlier experiences. You cannot go wrong! 5 stars!
