The fried rice had a wonderful wok hei flavor, the best I've had in a long time. The chef clearly knew what they were doing, as the dark color of the rice might have suggested it was overly salty, but it was actually perfectly seasoned with crunchy bean sprouts. The same can be said for the moo goo gai pan, with a sauce that surpassed any I've had before, and vegetables that were cooked perfectly. The service was quick and attentive, with hot food and multiple check-ins throughout the meal. This family-owned restaurant may be tucked away in a strip mall, but it is a hidden gem that is definitely worth a visit.
The Chinese food at this restaurant is simply the best! It is consistently delicious year after year.
I really enjoy the food at Hunan Restaurant. I have been there 3 or 4 times already. I have tried dishes like beef fried rice, chicken wings, chicken skewers, white rice, and beef chow mein (which I think I ordered by accident). The service is also pleasant. Every time I have picked up my to-go order, I have been greeted warmly upon entry. The staff verified my order and I saw them treat other guests just as kindly. The ambiance is very old-fashioned. It doesn't feel fancy or run-down, but rather like the same decor that has been there since the restaurant first opened, despite any changes in ownership. It's a cozy, small Mom and Pop restaurant. I haven't dined in yet, but it seems to have a steady flow of customers. It's conveniently located near my job, the portions are generous, so I will definitely be going back.
The sign was not lit up so it's not visible until you're on top of the restaurant. We were greeted right away with a friendly smile and the food came out quick. We ordered the appetizer platter, didn't care for the chicken wings, the breading was weird, but everything else was fine and you nothing tasted greasy. We shared the Triple Kung Pao that was beef, shrimp and chicken. It lacked spice but the flavor was good. It came with a nice size bowl of white rice. Canned soda only. Staff was lovely.
I ordered Hunan Chow Mein; the only vegetable was celery; unacceptable. I will eat it but add my own veggies to complete the meal. Chicken egg roll was good. I'll continue to search for chow mein with more veggies.
