Although we called ahead and booked a group, they were completely unprepared. One server for the whole restaurant, it took over an hour to give our orders, and then we had to inhale our food to get out on time and back to our event. I understand if we had just walked in as a large group, but we had called a week in advance to confirm. That said the food was great, and I would return again, with family or friends only.
Visited here for my birthday dinner with hubby. Very friendly servers and great service.Food was really good and arrived quickly even though they were busy. We live in Mission and it was our first visit to Martin's but we will definitely go back. Good to have a decent restaurant locally.
This restaurant serves only lunch from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The building was at one point the City Hall long ago but it has been a Restaurant for many years. Not sure how long with the new owners who also run the restaurant at Heritage Park.So we went for lunch, I was not aware that they only serve lunch so I planned to eat a more formal meal and was a bit surprised to read a menu with soups, sandwiches, salads and a couple of burgers. The special that day was a Montecristo Sandwich with a soup and choice of salad or fries...I was really hungry so I went for a beef deep. The Montecristo was a very generous sandwich, my husband chose a whole grain bread when asked and a salad. I thought the Beef deep was a bit smaller than other local restaurants, but I was satisfied when I finished and I loved the crunchy bread, the deep was a bit salty but that has been my experience every time I order the beef deep anywhere. I think it needs less salt. I like the presentation for both dishes, service was very good with a very nice and professional server. We sat by the windows and had a great view of downtown.
Martin's is viewed as being Mission's "Up Market" eatery, a place where you take friends when you want to impress them so we were looking forward to celebrating a birthday there. Our first impression was that the ambiance was sombre and we were surprised to find the dining room almost deserted. Although the service was prompt, it was hardly enthusiastic. There was a fair selection of wines, mostly at inflated prices, and the menu was relatively extensive. However, when the food arrived, it was not bad but it was not particularly exciting. Overall, we found the evening disappointing and slightly overpriced for the level of service and cuisine
