I wanted to order food to take home for my family, so I decided to try Nick's as I was driving by looking for places to eat. I ordered the family meal for 4 for $49. Two people were working on the Sunday afternoon I visited. The girl who took my order was friendly and mentioned that if I paid in cash, there would be no tax added to the total. The family meal for 4 included beef and chicken shawarma, beef kebab and chicken kebab, rice, 4 potatoes, 1 bag of pita bread, 2 cups of hummus, and 1 garlic sauce (which was a transparent white color instead of the usual opaque white like yogurt). She also suggested adding something extra for someone else. I found the food to be different from what was described. The girl was kind enough to bring our food out to our car, and she also gave us a small 500ml bottle of Pepsi, though we thought it was meant for four people. Most meals came with hummus and rice, but they had an option to upgrade to a special side for $6.99. The meat was dry and lacked flavor, and the hummus didn't have the creamy consistency I expected. The garlic sauce, which I was looking forward to, was like jelly and had a transparent white appearance, but the taste was decent. Overall, I was not very impressed with the taste and value of the meal. The cost seemed high for the quality of food we received. I was left wondering what makes Nick's Famous Shawarma so famous. I would give it a grade of C.
This restaurant is great for quick meals with delicious food. It is the best place for falafel - in fact, it's the only place I've found where the falafel is made fresh on the spot, not preheated or precooked, but actually fried fresh right there.
It is close to work and very clean. The menu is varied and each Shima or Falafel sandwich is made to order. The servers are pleasant and clean. Warning. There are two secondary schools in one block, so on weekdays, avoid until 12:45 if... They don't want to be crushed by teenagers. Otherwise a nice clientele with good food at reasonable prices.
I wanted to order food to bring to home for my family and I decided to try Nick's out after driving by looking for places to eat. I order the Family for 4 meal - $49.2 ppl were working the Sun afternoon I went. The girl was pleasant, she said if I paid cash then no tax would be applied - alright then.Family for 4 consisted of beef and chicken shwarma, beef kebab and chicken kebab, rice, 4 potatos, 1 bag of pita, 2 dixie cups of hummus and 1 of garlic sauce (which was a translucent white rather than a opaque white like yogurt). She talked me into subbing something for another.. I became weary whether or not I was getting what was described. She was kind enough to come out and bring us our food to our car, she said she gave us pop, thinking it was for 4 ppl but was actually a small 500ml bottle of pepsi. Most meals come with hummus and rice; they had a special in the window for $6.99.The meat was dry, lightly flavoured and spiced. The hummus was ok, not a creamy consistency which I'm used to. Most disappointing was the garlic sauce something I look fwd to. It was like jello, translucent white but it tasted ok.Overall, not entirely impressed with the flavour and value of the meal. I've tasted much better.I want to really know what make Nicks Famous Shwarma famous???Grade - C
