As a Celiac person living in Pacific Grove, this will be my new local hunt! I'm obsessed!
Just stopped and blown away for the first time. I saw the 100% gluten free sign so expected to find a dozen or so dry little deals. Not at all. There was a wide range of products, many of which were also milk-free! That's great because one of my kids has trouble with milk and gluten. We tried the blueberry muffin, which I think was about $3-$4. It tasted homemade. It was super hearty, but very humid, which I don't think I had ever bought from a store Muffin. Children loved it. Looking at the other elements on the display and the shop itself, I had the impression that this shop brings a lot of care into its products. I will definitely come back a lot and tell my friends.
The restaurant was well lit with natural light. I asked some questions about the flours because I have allergies to certain grains. The owner didn’t seem to like that. He was willing to engage and chat about other things though. Like the story of how his store got started. Which was cool and overall he seems like a a very nice guy. He sells Acme Coffee which is THE BEST! I loved the cinnamon roll! I hope this place sticks around and also uses more paleo flours for extra allergy people.
I appreciate that everything in this restaurant is gluten-free, but unfortunately, the food is lacking in flavor. I have visited twice, once for cookies and a second time for a pie. I hate to admit it, but in order for things to improve, I feel it is necessary to provide feedback. The cookies were dry and bland, despite their beautiful appearance. The same can be said for the pie. I genuinely want to enjoy this establishment! I plan to return to try a cupcake and the highly recommended frosted cinnamon roll, but if those do not taste any better, I may have to search for dining options elsewhere.
