Mellow Mushroom Downtown - Montgomery

My girlfriend and I decided to eat at the Mellow mushroom tonight before going to Buck Masters. Neither of us had ever eaten at a Mellow Mushroom before so we had no idea what to expect. We were not disappointed. I have never found a pizza yet that I won't eat, but I have to be honest that this was the best pizza that I have ever had. I don't know what your secret is, maybe it is the spring water crust, but whatever it is it is I will definitely be back. Coming from me that is saying a lot. Just ask my girlfriend. Whenever some one asks how something tastes , my usual response is it's ok, or it' good. I am just not a person that is hard to please when it comes to food. So if I say it is the best that I have ever had then it must be a lot more then just good or ok.

Like complete fools, we took 2 starving kids and 2 starving toddlers to a busy newly opened downtown restaurant on a Friday night. What a recipe for disaster. However, we were blown away by the great food and great service we received at the new Mellow Mushroom. We were seated almost immediately and our drink orders were promptly filled. I ordered the House Special pizza (sans onions) and Jess had the calzone which she claims is her favorite with cheese pizzas for the kiddos. I hadn't been to a MM in quite some time and had forgotten just how good their spring water crust can be. It has just the perfect combination crunch and chewiness. The toppings were spot on and the pie was perfectly cooked. The wife and kids loved their's and the service was outstanding. There is also a great craft beer selection. It's a huge restaurant with high ceilings; very open but not too loud at all. This is a great family friendly option for downtown dining. Had an amazing Father's Day brunch with the family and Joe was on point with the menu items, will be back!!!

The pizza had a fantastic texture, with a perfectly chewy, bready crust. We ordered the medium house special pizza and a small side salad with balsamic dressing. The toppings were delicious and well-distributed on the pizza, and the salad was a good size for either one large or two small servings. Overall, it was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was delicious. The Greek Salad was a generous portion. However, our waitress was not very attentive. I adjusted my tip accordingly to reflect my disappointment with her service.
