El Mariachi - Moultonborough

From the moment we arrived, I was enchanted by the restaurant's charm. The host—who also doubles as the bartender and waiter—was upfront with us about potential wait times for our food, but I never found that to be a problem. He was attentive and clearly juggling a lot, yet he handled everything beautifully. I loved the decor; each table and chair had a unique theme that reflected the rich history of life in Mexico. Most importantly, the food was fantastic. We started with homemade chips and salsa, which were delicious. I ordered the Rock Steak Tacos, and the steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned—so tender that it felt like I was dining in a steakhouse. My fiancée chose a combination plate with chimichangas, a tostada, and chicken enchiladas. She kindly shared one of the chicken enchiladas and one of the chimichangas with me, and both were incredible. Each plate came with rice, refried beans, and guacamole. The rice was tasty, and the guacamole was even better. While I'm not a fan of refried beans, my fiancée said they were very good. For dessert, we had fried ice cream, which was prepared right in front of us. It felt like a mini hibachi show with ice and liquor involved. I attempted to film it, but the video was too big to upload. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend El Mariachi to anyone visiting or living in the area. It's authentic Mexican cuisine done right.

We discovered this restaurant by chance five years ago while returning from Maine, and we've made it a point to stop by every time we're in the area. The food is incredible, especially the fresh guacamole, and the prices are quite reasonable. The atmosphere and flavors are genuinely authentic.

Was very happy to discover this wonderful Mexican run Mexican restaurant in the heart of NH Lake District. Conveniently located on Route 25 in Moultonborough directly towards Wolfboro and Castle in the cloud, it could not be more comfortable or more charming. The decor inside was very heartwarming brilliant lacquered/carved chairs from Mexico are the dominant furnishings, and the waiter is super friendly and accommodating. The outdoor tables also looked inviting. We had very nice combination plates, which were fresh and very tasty.

This restaurant offers delicious flavors and a diverse array of Mexican dishes, including some unique options that are hard to find in the area. The prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous without being overwhelming. While we didn’t get to try the drinks, the fresh and crispy chips served with the meal were a great touch. The restaurant is cozy, so it can get busy on weekends, but it’s definitely a worthwhile choice for Mexican cuisine in the area, making the wait well worth it.

Jose is amazing, his restaurant and food are amazing. Last week was my first time visiting this place, and I'm beyond thrilled to have chosen to go. I had the carnitas plate and my partner had a steak and shrimp plate. Both were made absolutely perfectly, and we had a lovely time and a lovely meal. Great atmosphere and wonderful service, mixed with delicious food? Always a good time. We will be back, for certain. We will also be recommending it to friends and family.
