Bing's Happy Garden Inc - Mount Angel

The best part? The food was genuinely delicious! I admit I may not know authentic Chinese cuisine, but I’m not a fan of the heavily Americanized versions—overly fried and drenched in sickly sweet sauces that seem like a poor imitation of ketchup. Fortunately, Happy Garden is not that kind of place. While I can't speak to its authenticity, I can confidently say that what we had was simply good food. The fried items were perfectly cooked: crispy, not greasy, and the sweet and sour chicken had a nice tang even after being coated in sauce (without being overcooked or confusing crunchiness for crispiness). The kung pao chicken struck a nice balance—it wasn’t overly sweet and had a pleasant kick. However, if you enjoy the thicker, sweeter sauce often found at places like Panda Express, you might prefer to skip Happy Garden's version, which is different but, in my opinion, much better. The potstickers and lo mein were also tasty. Overall, the vegetables were cooked just right—crisp yet tender—and all the dishes were well-balanced in flavor; nothing was overpowering or bland. As for the service, we have no complaints. Our food was ready on time, piping hot, and handed to us by a very friendly person (who might have been the owner). Since it’s primarily takeout, there wasn’t much more to the service experience, but what we experienced was excellent. Overall, if you're in the Silverton-Mt. Angel area, Happy Garden is the place to go for Chinese food. It's definitely made it to our top five go-to takeout spots!

The Chinese food here is fantastic! The family that owns and runs the restaurant is wonderful. Although I don't live in Mt. Angel, this is our go-to spot for takeout since they no longer offer dine-in service.
