Mount Forest Tavern

The atmosphere was good and theres a lot of potential for a great venue but we waited just over an hour for our food. We had to go by the time it came so we got it to go. As we drove away, my husband opened his up as we were both starving by this point and we were utterly disappointed and rendered speechless. The portion size was less then adequate for the price. The piece of fish was small and mostly just batter. And then fries my husband was told they were waiting on were cold and there was maybe a handful! Taste was nothing special. Nor did it even come close to making up for the wait or small portion.I waited until we arrived at our destination to open and eat my beef dip and salad. I too was disappointed with the teeny tiny positions. We asked for a large salad and got what I hope was their side salad. The sammy itself was tiny and again, nothing to write home about. Þ

Was just in for Taco Tuesday! Wow delicious. We ordered all of them. The pulled pork was sumptuous and tasty. The fish and buffalo chicken were superb. What a treat— very excited to have such great food at our local tavern in Mount Forest. I was also there for lunch a few weeks ago— terrific food. Fries and club were out of this world. Can’t wait for the patio to open. Wonderful new chef!?

Unexpectedly surprised! Honestly, I went in with low expectations. We were passing through Mount Forest and needed to stop somewhere for the family to eat. Food was excellent! The server was very friendly. The pool tables are fun. It looks as though it's recently had some renovations done because it doesn't look like the previous pictures posted. Bathrooms need some work, but we would definitely return. Cheers!

First time out. We had read the article about the executive chef that had bought the place so we figured we would give it a try. We went on a Thursday evening figuring that would be a good pub night. The bar was disappointingly out of ciders and vodka. Started with the calamari. It was bland and under seasoned. I had the fish and chips. The piece was a good size but almost burnt on the outside and wet and under cooked on the inside. Not enjoyable. Fries were not anything special though they were pumped up in the article we read. My partner had the MoFo burger. It was strongly over seasoned with something and poorly cooked and cool. It was basically dry with a poor attempt at crispy onions on it and some lettuce. No bacon jam or at least we couldn’t taste it. Basically inedible. Service was great. She was trying hard to make up for the gaps at the bar and was very apologetic. We didn’t get her name but she gets the star. Super disappointed with the Tavern. We were looking forward to a good pub with some good food that we could walk to so both of us could drink. We won’t be back.

The food here was outstanding. Tons of flavour and big portions. You don’t find that very often anymore. We were so full but kept eating because we didn’t want to leave a drop.The staff were very friendly and helpful as well.
