Federal - MURRAY DOWNS

The Federal Hotel was delightful. The rooms were clean, the facilities were easy to navigate, and the staff was very friendly. The food was also reasonably priced and satisfying. Notably, my friend received the wrong order, but the employee took responsibility for the mistake and handled it very well, which did not impact my overall impression of the experience. Whether for lunch, dinner, or just to socialize with friends and family, The Federal Hotel is a wonderful place to visit.

I had lunch with friends over the weekend, and it was an average experience—not the best or the worst. The service was decent. I ordered the hunch with garlic prawns on potato mash with vegetables. Unfortunately, it was overly salty, lacking a balance between sweet and savory. The dish was quite messy and just too salty overall. My husband had the scotch fillet steak, which was perfectly cooked and tender. However, the mushroom sauce overwhelmed the steak, even making it taste sweet. Next time, I hope the sauce is served on the side! We also tried the pumpkin ravioli, which were bland and too runny. On the bright side, the parma, burger, pork brain, fish, and garlic bread were all hits. We're willing to give it another try!

We were on a getaway with my Husband and decided to have lunch here yesterday the food I must say was very delicious and great portions but not happy with their customer service as we weren't even acknowledged or greeted when we walked which was rather rude in my opinion and I even saw a cook handling food with his hands without any sort of gloves on which I found very inappropriate. But Im happy that we enjoyed our meal at least.

Service and food not as good usual. Took USA visitors for dinner and was disappointed.

I've visited this restaurant a few times before and would have rated it higher in the past. I previously enjoyed a scotch fillet, which was quite good. However, my most recent experience was with a mixed grill that didn't quite meet expectations. The portion size was generous, but the pork chop was tough, the sausages were subpar, and the chicken was dry. The minute steak and potato salad were nice, though. I was also put off by one of the cooks at the front warming counter checking the chicken's doneness with his fingers.
