Írjon visszajelzéstAs alpine huts go, this is a nice location, with good views of the surrounding Bernese Alps. We were a family with two young children. The sleeping arrangement was the typical mattresses on the floor in the attic with about 30 other hikers (not very...conducive to sleep). The half-pension consisted of salty alphabet soup and spaghetti bolognese for dinner, about average for a Swiss hut, and bread, cheese, jam (no butter), coffee/tea/hot chocolate for breakfast. As a small extra they also had made Swiss müesli. There is nothing wrong with the hut. The only issue is that it is not good value for money for a family. One adult is 70 Francs for night+half-pension. But the child discount is very small, so after adding 2 beers, 2 hot chocolates and 2 strawberry shakes (to motivate the kids) the final bill was over 250 Francs. The better idea is to get a good deal for a family room in Mürren and do a day hike up to the hut.
We hiked here from Gimmelwald were dazzled to find this gem! Gleaming mountain peaks surrounded us, and it felt surreal to order beer enjoy some of the best berry pastries with fresh whipped cream we have ever had! We also enjoyed the delicious...wurst. We napped for a few minutes before the amazing hike back to Gimmelwald.
You need to walk in a few hours to reach the cottage, perhaps that's why the food tastes so good I don't know, but the limited menu is good and presented in a stunning location.
Very recommended to stay overnight in Rotstockhutte, either in a double room or in a shared room (although we stayed only in a double room. We wandered from Murren, stopped at Sprutz, which I recommend, and then stayed overnight in the hut. We started with drinks and a... rest and then had a delicious dinner. The food comes all over helicopters, so it was easy, but hot and fill. The bathrooms are immaculate, the hosts are friendly and the environment cannot be beaten. We hiked back to Murren the following day, but there are more day hikes from the cottage. I recommend this cabin and experience.
