Service was always a bit suspect but now the food is a bit more hit and miss. Too bad. I used to really like this place. Location is still great but they have lost their way a bit I'm afraid.
We recently visited visited Waters Edge at The Lake Joseph Club to for a special birthday celebration, and were incredibly disappointed by both the food and the service. The restaurant was very busy…full of families celebrating similar special events…and also full of poorly behaved children that were running all over the place, which was very distracting and took away from the ‘fine dining’ atmosphere of the restaurant. The service was initially attentive, with our food and drink orders placed quickly, and the server confirming that we were there for a special birthday celebration, but seemed to go downhill from there. The server forgot to bring bread to our table, and left our drinks empty. When two people in our party complained about the flavor and consistency of the ahi tuna she simply shrugged and said the shipment varies daily. When we ordered desert there was no special attention given to the fact that we were celebrating a birthday…a simple candle would have gone a long way. The food here is way overpriced, and the service seriously lacking. After fifteen years of visiting The Lake Joseph Club, our family decided this would be the last.
This restaurant has a wonderful view of the lake. Most comfortable place to relax and eat. The food is best described as comfort food with a good beer selection. The staff was very pleasant and cheerful.
We have dined inside for an after-golf business event....windows with a lakeview, lots of wood and a nautical theme give good ambiance. However, when we want to be more casual, we visit the lakeside patio overlooking the docks for a cold beer and a bite. If you're visiting JWMarriot on the weekend, the resort can be very crowded and kid noisy by the water. Water's Edge will be your escape.
