We have to get there approx. 45 minutes drive, but we're always coming back. great place to be all year round! some of the best coffees and whispers they'll ever get
Fantastic food that offers a wide range of bakery and sweet products on the display, apart from a long list of other in-house items and coffee menus. an incredible experience, both paintings.
On the way back from skiing, my husband and I found this restaurant courtesy of TripAdvisor, and I am so glad we did. It 's worth a trip, and we may be back. There are two parts to the restaurant. The first part, where they sell...cakes, chocolates and pralines, to take away is just basically a place to stop and buy some chocolate. For this alone, it is worth a trip. The chocolates were wonderful. On our way out, we stopped and got cake for dinner desert desert that included: (1) the local specialty cake that had chocolate and cream really light and lovely; and (2) a chocolate torte stuffed with chocolate mouse and raspberry which was rich and delectable. There is also a proper sit down restaurant. I wasn 't sure of the rules, but it 's basically, if you can find a table grab it. The place is very popular. There is parking out front, but there was barely five minutes when a parking spot was left vacant. It 's that popular (and with good reason). Although we arrived late (after 2pm), they were able to serve us breakfast (although lunch was no longer available). My husband had the Glarnerland breakfast which worked well for his vegetarian nature. There was gorgeous local cheese and yogurt, some tasty nutty cinnamon pastry, gorgeous whole grain brotchen (little rolls) and a croissant. He also enjoyed the coffee. For me, I found their soup of the day carrot utterly delectable. But the best part was the Verschmeltung, literally the melting . The card on the table called it (in German) 'milk kissed chocolate and I think that was a good description. They bring you hot milk, and then they top it with a circle of chocolate, which then has a chocolate praline on top. You wait (and watch) as the heat from the steamed milk melts the Swiss chocolate and wallah instant hot chocolate! It was gorgeous. It was divine. And the extra praline we received was wonderful. There are only a few downsides. First, it 's very popular. Getting a table or a parking spot can be tricky. If you can, it 's worth making a reservation. Second, everything is in German and not a lot of English is spoken. This was tricky for my non German speaking husband, but I was able to manage my way around. Third, there weren 't that many wait staff present, so we had to wait a while for service. That having been said, our server was a LOVELY lady. Very pleasant, patient and willing to be flexible. I was very impressed by this last bit as its not normal for me to experience Swiss people willing to bend rules (i.e. serving breakfast after lunch time). This is a perfect after ski treat. Come with an appetite for something sweet and you won 't be disappointed!
